Base Board Design Notice:

1. Power Design

CORE4418 core board provides two power supply input mode, One is 5V/1A power input, connect to the Pin 124 and Pin 125 on the CORE4418, the others is 3.5V to 4.2V Li-battle power supply in, Connect to Pin 122/Pin 123 on the CORE4418. you can power in the board with two mode at the same time, then the CORE4418 can cahrge the Li battle with the on board charge chips. If the use of 5V power in mode, the peak current taking into account the need to ensure that the current chip, 1A. In addition, the core board Pin126 is the Power out pin, can support out 3.5V to 5V, it can be used to the base board power supply. pin175 is the 3.3V power output, can be used to supply base board, but in the core board after sleep, 3.3V Will turn off the electric voltage, wake up after return to normal. Pin174 is the RTC power input, can be connected with a battery backup in the base board. The voltage corresponding to the pin is as follows:

  • Pin 122/123: Li-battle Power in, for single 4.2V lithium batteries, can be suspended if not need batteries.
  • Pin 124/125: Power adapter Power in, Support 4.5V to 5.5V/1A Power input.
  • Pin 126: battery and power adapter common level of output, the out voltage is base on the Power adapter or the Li-battle, can be used for
  • base board power supply.
  • Pin 174: RTC Power in, if you need back up the RTC time, connect it to back up battle 1.8V.
  • Pin 175: 3.3V output, for base board power, when CPU board sleep, it will be closed, when wake up the CPU board, it will be return.a

2. USB design

S5P4418 has a USB HOST port, a USB HSIC port and a USB OTG port, the OTG port can be used as USB HOST or USB Device, 
which is the standard OTG port. USB HOST port can be directly connected to USB peripherals, USB HSIC need to add the bridge
Chips such as USB3503, USB4640 etc, then you can use it as the standard USB HOST.
In the PCB line, Pin140 and Pin141(USB_HOST_D-, USB_HOST_D+ pin) need to be set as Differential Pair, Pin142 and Pin143(OTG_USB-, OTG_USB+) need to be set as Differential Pair,  pin of a differential line, they will have the same length, and 90 ohms impedance matching.

3. HDMI Design

  • Exynos4418 comes with HDMI controller chip, support HDMI1.4 protocol. Core board Pin136-Pin143 total 8Pin, must take as long as the Isometric differential lines, and impedance of 100 ohms, otherwise there will be lost HDMI color screen and off And other issues.
